Research Interests

 

 

 

- computer vision and artificial vision;

- cognitive robotics (supervised control, planning and navigation in unstructured environment)

- human-computer interfaces

- image processing and analysis (segmentation, active contours, optical flow, symmetry detection, edge detection) 

- 3D object recognition and reconstruction (blobs, superquadrics)

[1999-2000] Visiting researcher at Computer Vision & Robotics Lab of Engineering Department of the University of Cambridge (UK)

[from 2000] Teacher of various courses, seminars, and exercitations at the University of Palermo (fundamentals of computer science, laboratory of computer science, image processing, multi-medial database and video compression, Matlab programming)

[from 2004 Research coordinator of the topic “F.A.C.I.L.E. - Framework ad agenti cognitivi per la gestione e fruizione intelligente di informazioni sensoriali, conoscenze e servizi avanzati  – Framework based on cognitive agents for the intelligent management and fruition of sensorial data, knowledge, and innovative services. This topic is a research institutional activity approved by Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche (CNR).
